Teresa Hendrix

TeresaGLSocial Media and Website Content Developer,
Teresa is an award-winning writer with 20+ years experience in communications. She specializes in creating user-friendly websites and improved social media presence and electronic communications for higher education, government, nonprofit and small business clients.

Before launching into online communications,  Teresa spent the first 14 years of her career as a newspaper reporter in California. She left newspapers (just in time) to launch her own public relations shop when “The Internet” was a new thing.

In her first sojourn as a sole practitioner, she worked on high-stakes political campaigns and also created site architecture and written content for specialty medical and large-scale real estate development websites. After learning just enough html coding to be dangerous, she joined the University Advancement staff at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, a nationally ranked four-year university.

In her 11 years at Cal Poly, she created print, web and social media content to support the university’s fundraising division, the university news service, the university as a whole and several of its colleges, including the College of Science and Mathematics and College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences.

She created the first Cal Poly News website, and took it through redesigns from FrontPage to Dreamweaver to CSS-Based Dreamweaver. She also wrote and edited Cal Poly’s award-winning monthly e-newsletter for alumni, parents and friends, growing readership to a peak of 14,500 with  a 25 percent open rate.

Along the way, she launched the university’s proprietary alumni social network,  its first official YouTube channel, its first Facebook pages and Twitter feed. She and taught colleges and departments within the university how to launch and grow their own social media efforts. And she began the College of Science and Mathematics’ transition from Dreamweaver to a Drupal platform, migrating several of its departments into the university’s new Drupal templates and updating their organization, content and art.

She’s a veteran at email and e-newsletter writing and creation, website and social network design and coordination, website and social media content creation and management, digital photography, keywords, tagging, training people to use Dreamweaver and CMS platforms to expertly and fearlessly update content, and translating tech speak into plain English.

After her husband retired from a 20-year career as a chief executive for both county and city government agencies in California, she and her husband moved to Northern California wine country in 2012.

Teresa earned her bachelor of science degree in Journalism at Cal Poly.
